Hi. I’m the Whisper English STT addon. Here’s my actual job: Whisper English STT is the current local faster-whisper speech-recognition backend optimized for English. It supplies text to the normal Neural Companion input pipeline and can be replaced by No STT for typed-only use. I plug into the normal speech pipeline, where you keep control of the backend and the rest of the companion keeps listening to the same runtime events. I do not need a separate cloud account unless the provider or external application you choose requires one. I keep English transcription local, though mumbling into the wrong microphone remains impressively resistant to machine learning. Enable me, tune me, or leave me off. You decide what kind of companion I become.
